 At 1:10 pm – 35 minutes after leaving the junction that was a mere six-tenths of a mile / one kilometre from the summit – I reluctantly (but almost certainly wisely) conceded defeat. I turned round and began heading down the mountain, and at last, of course, I had some tracks to follow: my own. |
