Climbing Mt Rogers |
 At the junction of the Appalachian Trail and the Mt Rogers Spur Trail, I met Forger (his trail name, he explained to me, stemmed from his tendency for “forge ahead”), an Appalachian Trail through-hiker. He’d left Mt Katahdin on 18 July, and had already booked a flight in order to get home from Georgia to Massachusetts in time for Thanksgiving, so he had to continue to forge ahead, but first – on my recommendation – he was going to take a detour to the summit of Mt Rogers. I do hope he felt it was worthwhile doing so. |
