Climbing Mt Taranaki

January 1987: After we reached the Manganui public shelter, I took this late afternoon photograph looking up at the eastern slopes of Mt Taranaki. The highest point in the picture is the Shark’s Tooth. It’s on the eastern side of Mt Taranaki’s crater, and is only eight metres lower than the summit of the mountain (which is on the western side of the crater and not visible from this angle).
