 January 1987: On this map of the mountain, I’ve marked in red the route we took up the mountain, and in green the route we took down the mountain (which was via the northern summit and the round-the-mountain routes). On this map, the mountain is called “Mt Taranaki or Mt Egmont”, which is correct because both were the formal legal names of the mountain on each of the three occasions I climbed it. |
