Climbing Mt Taranaki |
 August 1995: The next time I climbed Mt Taranaki was via a different route. On Friday evening, 4 August 1995, two New Zealand Alpine Club friends and I drove from Wellington to North Egmont and spent the night in the Camphouse. The following day we hiked up the Puffer Track to the Tahurangi Lodge, and then – on Sunday, 6 August 1995 – we climbed both Mt Taranaki and the Shark’s Tooth prior to returning to Wellington. The route we took (both up and down the mountain) is shown in red on this map. |
