 Looking down onto the Onepoto intake for hydroelectric power generation from the lake. Note, though, that the lake is not a hydro dam. As was mentioned earlier, the lake was formed about 2,200 years ago as a result of huge landslip. Power stations were built on waterways below the lake both before and after the Second World War. |
