Lake Waikaremoana Track

Wairoa, where we spent Monday, 28 December 1987, resting and sheltering from the heat. I ventured out in the comparative cool of the evening to take a photograph of the former Portland Island lighthouse, which was moved to its current site beside the Wairoa river in 1960 and has become a well-known icon of the town. Tim caught a train to Napier the next day, while Heather, Evan, and I continued driving up the east coast of North Island. (This is the last picture in this album.)
