
Day 44 (28 October 1969) INNSBRUCK: While we were staying in Innsbruck, we drove out of town specifically to see the Europa Bridge, then the highest bridge in Europe. Opened in late 1963, it towers 190 metres above the Sill river. I was totally non-metric in 1969, so wrote in my diary that the bridge is 897 yards long
supported by hollow concrete pillars, 22 inches thick at the base and 14 inches at the top. |
