1963
After my AFS year in the United States, I spent the last five months of 1963 in Europe. I was based in England with my older brother, Anthony, and his family, but I also travelled on the continent for two months when I drove my grandmother’s three-wheeled Heinkel bubble car almost 6,000 miles / 10,000 kilometres through more than ten countries. For seven weeks I travelled with three young Americans from Los Angeles and their Citroën deux Chevaux. The only picture taken of the four of us at the time was in Austria on 4 September 1963. I’m on the right (between the two cars), while (from left to right) the three “LA guys” are Gary Wells, Bill Kilbourn, and Dave Prigge. |
