Climbing Mt Hood |
 I have been to Oregon four times. Heather, Evan and I spent a month there in 1976 on my first sabbatical leave; in 1997 I visited Amanda and Roger Marcus (with whom I had climbed Mt Kilimanjaro in 1985) and their daughters in the Portland area while on my way to Mt McKinley / Denali; and in June 2007 Eric Hodge and I teamed up with Roger Marcus for an attempt on Mt Hood. Eric and Roger reached the summit, but I didn't. As a result, Eric and I returned to Oregon in 2009 to tackle Mt Hood again. |
